What is CrossFit Masters? – At KW CrossFit, we understand that the WOD (Workout of the Day) may not be suitable for all people – even at a scaled level. The first phrase in our mission is to “promote wellness.” We want to provide an environment where anyone, including those in our “Golden Generation” (60+), can benefit from the CrossFit methodology and become more fit and more productive in their everyday lives.
CrossFit Masters concentrates on those movements that will help aid a person’s everyday activities. In particular, we focus on strengthening the legs, arms, and core, while simulataneously improving the mobility of the different rotational planes in the body. We also increase the heart rate an appreciable amount to increase cardio capacity. The goal is to create a lifestyle improvement for the individual so that they can enjoy more of what life has to offer.
Individuals who join CrossFit Masters do not need an introductory course. The instructor of the course does an initial assessment of the individual’s mobility and capacity to do certain movements and then scales the workout to each person’s abilities. If, at any time, the individual would like to participate in regular CrossFit workouts, they would need to go through the foundations classes as described in the Link section.
